We are spending 4 days with our son, daughter in-law and grandson in London from 17th to 21st July. We then pick up a hire car and travel from London to Edinburgh, where we are staying on the 1st and 2nd of August, before flying out on the 3rd August.

We are interested natural, historical and literary based destinations. I am aware that our time is limited and restricts what we can see. One place I would like to include is Dumbarton in Scotland as this is where my forbears came from and also a…

We are completing a conducted tour of Ireland & Scotland that finishes at the end of August. We then intend to self drive from Edinburgh to London in eighteen days. We have not visited the UK before and would appreciate some advice on which routes to take, places to stay and what to see during this time frame.

Is it possible to drive with an expedition vehicle from the UK to Australia?
We are potentially moving to Australia this autumn and are thinking instead of flying to drive, leaving in June exploring the various countries on the way.
How would you cross the ocean from SE Asia to Darwin?
Are there ferries available or would you need to book a container from China to Australia?
Any links, advise, anyone done it before?

Thank you,

Liz

We're planning on a month long trip to England and Wales. Already have a canal boat booked for a week and we're planning on visiting London, Portsmouth, Eastbourne, Cambridge, York and Conwyn. We'll be using mass transit. We're seasoned travelers that like history, architecture, food, beer, hiking and just visiting with locals. This will be my fourth trip to England and my husbands second. The Cotswolds look perfect for us but we're wondering how many days should we a lot so that we're not…

Hi, I'm planning a 5 week holiday in England this summer with 3 kids (9yrs, 7yrs, 2yrs) and will rent a car.
London: 3 nights
Bath: 4 nights
Center Parcs Longleat: 1 week
Birmingham/Stratford upon Avon: 1 week
Lake District: 1 week
???: 4 nights
Legoland Windsor: 3 nights

We have a gap btwn Lake District and Legoland Windsor and I'm struggling for ideas. I had a look at the map and Corme in Norfolk looks like it could be "different" enough from the other destinations we've already booked, but have…

Hello,
I am planning 2-3 days with a car, interested in quaint villages, history, lovely walks (Castle Combe), Avebury, Glastonbury-King Author). I don't have to see Bath, and I'm struggling with the distances to determine the best central location. Can anyone give me suggestions to be centrally located or should I stay in two places over the 2-3 days?
Thank you!

Day trips

Good morning,
We are visiting England for a week. Our interests are history, art, architecture and nature. We will not have a car and will use public transportation. . Would it be best to plan day trips from London? It will be a busy time, Easter. We plan on visiting the following:
Bath
Cotswolds-is there a town, or is this a region
Salisbury
London
Canterbury ?

Would it be best to do day trips to these sites, any suggestions would be helpful

Thank you.

Hello. I'm travelling from east London in a car to Stroud on Good Friday.

What is traffic typically like on Good Friday heading out of London (city airport) on Good Friday? Is it better to go via the M4 or A40? Or is there an alternative route? A40 seems like it is a narrow road but the M4 sort of goes in the not most exact direction (we'll be north east of Stroud by a few miles).
