Acceptance of Temporary Belgian Passport

Hi all

My partner and I will be travelling from NZ on a trip to Japan, the UK and Canada in April this year. My partner has a Belgian passport which will expire very soon - February - so we are exploring the possible option of her applying for a Belgian '12 month temporary passport' given the expected turn-around time for a new 'full passport'.

My only concern with this option is that I've read some countries have issues accepting temporary passports.

Unfortunately I have been unable to find…

Hi there. Have anyone tried booking a room from Orbitz.com? I am looking for a cheap accommodation at the city center in London, around 55 GBP/night with en-suite bathroom. Any suggestion?
Many thanks.

Two 15 Hour Layovers (LHR) - Where To Go? Where To Eat?

Greetings All,

I've got a trip planned to South Africa this October - as part of it, I've managed to build in a 14 hour 50 minute layover on the way there (6:30am to 9:20pm) at LHR airport.

I've got a nearly identical layover on the way back as well (5:30am-8:20pm) - also at LHR.
I figure that will be enough time to leave the airport and explore London for a bit during each of those layovers.

The particulars:
- Luggage is getting checked through to my destination in both cases - I will only…

Airport

HI! We have 10 hours waiting at London airport before going down in Africa. Is it possible to go out and visit a little or it's too complicated?
Thx!

London City Tour During Heathrow Layover?

In late February, we will be arriving at Heathrow at 7:00 AM and departing at 5:30 PM on a Sunday.

We would like to leave the airport and do a quick guided tour of London. We will appreciate any advice/suggestions that anyone can provide.

When we were in Amsterdam Schiphol, there were kiosks in the terminal that sold guided tours. This was ideal.

We are not at all familiar with London.

Thanks in advance.

Budget lodging in Lake District

Hi, I'll be in the Lake District in mid-may 2015. I'm looking at staying in the towns Windermere, Grasmere, Keswick and Caldbeck. However I'm having trouble finding accommodations online and thus I was wondering if anyone here would be able to help me.

I'm looking for advice on specific places to stay, preferably with online booking available. I'm a solo backpacker who's looking for the cheapest places to stay.

If anyone has any additional advice for me, that would be helpful as well!

Thanks…

Hi all,
I am flying to Southampton soon with some friends for a long weekend. We will hire a car at the airport for the few days. We are all interested in hiking and also some cycling. I'm looking for some suggestions on what to see and do and where to base ourselves for the few days. I know the New Forest and South Downs NPs are quite near and we will def go hiking there. Thanks in advance for the help.

How to survive as a tourist in London

Found this in my 'London Weekend' feed. Thought it was worth posting a slightly abridged here:-

  1. Tube and Bus manners. Nothing is going to cause such a cry for blood as ignoring these basic rules; don't queue jump to get on public transport, let the passengers off first before getting on, holding up a lift, or standing on the walking side of an escalator. These are all dangerous things to do because natural Londoners don't just tut anymore – they'll push you out of the way quickly and without…

In London right now ... but only today and tomorrow to visit.

The sun is shining today. Even though it's cold you might like to visit a quirky new place. But you'll have to be quick.
Up to and including 31 December there's a Christmas Village - Winterville - in Victoria Park, nearest tube Mile End, then 277 or 425 bus to Victoria Park [13 min]. Open 10.00 am to 10.30 pm.
Entry is FREE. Plus, there's free entertainment inside, including a dedicated Speigeltent (travelling mirror house dance halls, originating from Holland) will house club nights, gigs,…
