Getting around

Surfers are welcome to take boards onto all local buses here. Bus 80 has two routes: east to Playa San Diego (US$0.30, 15 minutes, every 30 minutes from 5:40am to 6pm) and west on the Carr Litoral to Playa El Sunzal (US$0.25, 30 minutes, every 15 minutes from 4:30am to 6pm), passing the turnoffs to Playas Conchalía, San Blas, El Majahual and El Tunco along the way. Buses line up on 4a Ave Sur, between Calle Gerardo Barrios and 2a Calle Oriente - ask which direction the bus is going before getting on.

For beaches further west - Playas Palmarcito, El Zonte, Km 59 and Km 61 - take bus 192. For Playas Mizata and Sihuapilapa, take a Sonsonate bus.

Both bus 192 and westbound bus 80 pass the corner of 3a Av Norte and Calle El Calvario on their way out of town, in case you don't feel like walking all the way to the market/bus area.
