Bus

Local buses 90-B and 13 go to and from Parque David J Guzmán and the Metrocentro mall. Buses 88 and R3 go west from the bus terminal and Parque Guzmán to Av Roosevelt and the hospital.

San Miguel's bus terminal (2660 2722; 6a Calle Ote) used to be shiny and new, and the best in the country. A few years later it's gotten a bit drab, and the area's never been too nice. It's still better than most, with clearly marked bus lanes, several restaurants and shops, including a pharmacy, an ATM and decent public bathrooms. Buses from San Miguel travel to the following destinations:

Cacaopera Bus 337; US$1.05, 2½ hours, 11am and 12:10pm

Corinto Bus 327; US$1.80, two hours, every 35 minutes from 5am to 5pm

El Amatillo (Honduran border) Bus 330; US$1.75, 1½ hours, every 10 minutes from 3:50am to 6pm

El Cuco Bus 320; US$0.95, 1½ hours, every 30 minutes from 5:30am to 4pm

El Tamarindo Bus 385; US$1.25, 1½ hours; hourly from 5am to 5pm

La Unión Bus 324; US$0.95, 1¼ hours, every 10 minutes from 4:30am to 6pm

Marcala (Honduras) Bus 426; US$3.50, 5½ hours, 4:40am and 11:40am

Perquín Bus 332; US$1.50, three hours, 9:50am, 10:20am, 11:30am, 12:40pm, 1:40pm and 3:20pm; or take any San Francisco Gotera bus and transfer to a pickup

Puerto El Triunfo Bus 377; US$1.50, two hours, hourly from 5:20am to 5pm

San Salvador Bus 301; ordinario US$2.10, three hours, every 15 minutes from 3am to 4:30pm; especial (no air-con) US$3, two hours, 9am, 10am, 1pm and 2:30pm; super (air-con and video) US$4, two hours, 5am, 6am, 7am, 8am, 2pm and 3pm
