I have read vague guidance that it is possible to get from San Salvador to Alegria by bus, but not clear whether the changeover is in Villa El Triunfi de Santiago or Santiago de Mario.....or if there is another better option. We are open to bus or minibus. We will be travelling in Feb or March. Thanks for any guidance in advance!

Hi,

does anybody know a car rental company that rents car with driver? I don't mind driving myself but my wife is afraid... Plus we arrive at 10h30PM at night and driving at night is not recommend, and the only hotel close to the airport is 200CAD per night

thanks
Le

I'm going to be in Cabañas district for two weeks in July/August. I've been hearing mixed reports on what footwear I should have because of mud. I'm not keen on bringing giant gumboots or hiking boots, but would if it is the best footwear to bring. Any recommendations on what footwear to have with me? Thanks.

I'm going to Santa Ana tomorrow and need to figure out transportation to Antigua on Tuesday. Does anyone know any shuttles to Antigua from Santa Ana or are chicken buses the only option?

Thanks,
Scott

Hello!

I'm heading towards El Salvador in the next couple of days ,and I'm looking for places to camp. If you know any guesthouses who provide camping space I'm super interested.

Thanks!

Hello there. I will be leading a group of American artists on a cultural exchange program for 2 weeks in December. Our work will be based with an organization in Soyapango, roughly one hour from where we will be staying in central San Salvador.

I have been doing extensive research, and I have been alarmed by what appears to be a terrible security situation, particularly in Soyapango. I am looking for any insights from people who live in El Salvador, or whom have travelled there recently. I am…

My fiancé and I are hoping to get married in El Salvador either at the end of this year or beginning of next year. We're spending twoish years travelling down through Central America (beginning in Mexico in October) and although we haven't yet been to El Salvador we've fallen in love with all we've seen and read about it so we are hoping to spend a couple of months volunteering there. While we're there we'd love to get married but we're struggling to find any information about it. What are…

We have all heard the horror stories of travel in Central America. I just wanted to share something good that happened to me yesterday. I am a senior, solo, female traveler, and I do not speak Spanish. I was in El Tunco and wanted to get to Santa Ana. One of the girls at a coffee shop I went to spoke English, so she explained to me how to do it, and also wrote in Spanish where I was going etc. She knew I had to change buses in San Salvador, but was not sure if I should change at the Church…

I'm in El Salvador right now. So I thought I'd start a running trip report for myself and I'll keep adding to it as my trip progresses. I landed at El Salvador's International Airport(Comalapa). Clean and organized it looked and then on to Customs. Passport details entered on a paper card that is pasted into my Passport(Canadian 90days), plus a fee of $10 paid in cash(all prices in US dollars). Then on to pick up my bag; a second check and form to hand in I was through Customs(20 minutes total).
