This wonderful museum has a beautifully displayed collection, from the end of the Old Kingdom right through to the Mamluk period, mostly gathered from the Theban temples and necropolis.

    Escape the heat for an hour or two

    humbucker recommends this,

    A really manageable size with a great collection. A couple of mummies, some great Atenakin statues and a good collection of daily life items.

    Good for: escaping the heat, presentation, artefact labels

    Not good for: cost, cafe
