Luxor has a wide range of hotels for all budgets. Most package-tour hotels are on the east bank, as are most shops, restaurants and hectic town life. The west bank is developing at a fast rate and is certainly no longer entirely rural. But it is still a tranquil place, where the pace of life is much slower and where evenings are more often than not blissfully quiet. Since the 2011 revolution, tourism to Luxor has dropped dramatically and several places have closed their doors. If the slump continues, it may be possible to bargain.
