We are traveling to Dahab in early October and staying for 10 weeks, having rented a small apartment situated away from the sea front approximately mid-way between Acacia Hotel and Peace Road.

We spent a week in Dahab about six years ago and I am trying to renew my knowledge of the geography of the place! We enjoy spending lazy days on the beach (and snorkelling, of course) and remember the excellent Lagoon area.

However, is there public access to stretches of sand any closer? Perhaps at a…

Hello all. My girlfriend and I are planning driving from London to Cape Town leaving just after Christmas 2015. The major issue seems to be getting to Egypt. Does anyone know if a car ferry will be working from anywhere in Europe to Egypt at the end of 2015 or early January 2016? Many thanks

We have just come back from our 5th vacation to Egypt with our 2 children, now 9 and 13 of age. Our last 4 ones were either in May or in Winter, just from after the revolution in 2011, since before this, we would not want to go to see the sites with the large crowds of tourists around.
Our trip started with one night in Cairo in our regular hotel Osiris.
We then went on by plane to Sharm el Sheikh and directly on to Dahab. From Sharm Airport to Dahab, we ordered a cab from the hotel, waiting for…

We planned the trip of a lifetime through Egypt with our 3 teenage children. Searching on the internet, we found several companies that had set itineraries travelling through Egypt. As we started to contact several about some modification to suit our interests, we found Real Egypt to be the company that was the most helpful and flexible to ensure we were able to fit in all OUR highlights. Samir Abbass, was most supportive and accommodating, offering advice and suggestions on how to maximize…

I would be going to cairo to take an exam in November this year. I would like to know what mode of travel would you recommend to and from Downtown Cairo (where i might be staying at a hotel) to International medical center, Belbis - 10th of Ramadan, الشرقية, Cairo Governorate.

I would prefer a budget mode of travel. I have to travel only 1 or 2 times for a 7-8 hours stay at the medical center.

Hi Everyone

I know there's plenty of hotel advice already in this forum but I was hoping to get some specific advice from anyone who's been to Dahab recently as I keep seeing mentions of it being like a Ghost Town. I'm going with my sister and we wanted to book a room in a chilled out budget hotel where we can meet people. I know Alaska and Penguin are the big two but they seem like they might attract a bit too much of a party (whatever party means in Dahab) crowd but if we go somewhere else…

Has anyone ever cruised the Nile on the paddleboat "Sudan"? It is akin to the boat that was the setting for the Agatha Christie book, "Death on the Nile". I went on their website and the boat looks great. I would like to get some first-hand reports on the boat and the cruise. Thanks in advance for all replies!

Dear All,

We are looking for accommodation in Marsa Alam for later in the year for a few days so we can check out the Dolphin House reef with the spinner dolphins. we found something in the Red sea Hotel for around 17 USD per night and this seems fine, but we prefer a Guesthouse/ intimate accommodation style. Are there any such budget places in Marsa alam and if so could you pass me their contact email so I can make enquiries?

Many thanks,

A

Hi All,

anyone been to Marsa Alam and can tell me whether it is LIKELY that we will see dolphins at dolphin house reef in NOVEMBER?

I am a rescue diver although I am happy to snorkle also if the area is appropriate (ie you can see the same from snorkeling due to depth, environment and or visibility. Also the person I am travelling with is a snorkler rather than scuba diver.

Also can you tell me a diver operator which took you to the reef- any comments/ complaints/ compliments or things to be…
