Getting there & away
The most common way of getting to Al-Balyana is by tour bus or private taxi in the 8am convoy from Luxor. You can also catch a train from Luxor at 9.15am (1st/2nd class E£16/13, three hours). Expect to be picked up by the police and put into a private taxi to the temple (return about E£40 to E£50). There is a train back to Luxor at 5pm (3rd class only E£8). Impatient police may also push you onto the bus of a tour group going to Luxor.
