Egypt was never cheaper than now! A real problem for the local population and the economy it’s good for travellers coming from one of the “hard-currency” countries.
People are also very friendly (in my opinion friendlier than on my first visit some 10 years ago), even the taxi drivers (I can’t believe I ever say this about taxi drivers). If you move from the city’s outskirts towards the city centre in the morning, get yourself the Uber App. About half the driver’s speak good English…
Hallo there. Leaving next July to Egypt and I am looking for updated and reliable information about public transport from Marsa Alam to Berneice and viceversa. Two years ago I travelled by public bus from Hurgada to Marsa Alam and then back from Marsa Alam to El-Quesir and Hurgada. Now I'd need to now something about public transport ONLY, between Marsa Alam and Berenice and back. Thanks in advance.
Im going to be flying from Cairo to Amman after visiting Egypt.I have my flight itinerary but it only lists the flight number , not the terminal. Does anyone know which terminal I need to get to for an EgyptAir flight to Jordan?
we are two german guys (obviously western appearances) travelling back to germany from ethiopia by land and public transport/hitching. As there were several threats through Isis on Sinai and elswhere we are wondering if our plan to go from cairo or suez via sharm, nuweiba to the taba border crossing is a safe way. As we do not have any vehicle we would take the public bus(ses). We definitely do not want to fly anywhere. But ferry is an option. We would be very glad if someone could…
Hello I will be arriving to Hurghada, from there I am planning to get a taxy to LUXOR, and take the luxor-aswan cruise, but I dont know if I should book in advance or just wait till get there, would be smarter to wait to see the ships? and prices.. I am on a tight schedule and I am about to book my flight from aswan- cairo (which i also dont know if I wait would be the same price)
thank you !
I'm just wandering if the passport stamps at Egyptian borders are universal or if they're specific to which border you crossed from/into. I'm planning to cross via ferry from Jordan, then switch to a passport with no sign of Jordan or Israel in it to get my Egyptian visa. Which I'll then use to try and get my Sudanese visa. Or will the stamp indicate that I arrived via Nuwieba and hence Jordan?
We are thinking of going to Dahab this fall but are wondering if many of the local shops are closed due to a lack of tourists. With the latest activity by dahesh is it becoming a ghost town? We are not so concerned for safety but if normal life has disappeared it would not be so interesting. Thanks for any recent observations.
I am about to start an overland Cairo to Cape Town trip and wanted to ask a few questions about the safety in Egypt.
- How safe is it for backpacking at present?
- How safe is it to travel on bus / train at present?
- Is the border crossing with Sudan open or do I need government permission to cross through there from Aswan?
I am leaving in a few week & would appreciate any information.
So – my family and I are possibly planning a trip to Egypt – I am NOT sure when exactly. The idea is to visit Cairo + Pyramids, then a POSSIBLE Nile Cruise then Sharm El Sheikh. Now I understand Sharm's weather is hotter than Cairo.
Personally I thought maybe April/May – but then I was told the weather can be upwards of 40C++ in Sharm. BUT that doesn't necessary reflect sea temperatures – since we're coming out of the Winter months. So… considering Summer is super hot… now I'm thinking…
