I'm going to Israel and Jordan soon and want to visit Egypt too. Nothing too special; just Cairo and the area around it.
I have heard if I get the bus I would have to go via Sharm el-Sheikh due to the security situation. I have looked at flights but they are £200+, which is outside of my budget.
Is it safe to catch a bus to Sharm el-Sheikh, and then onwards to Cairo? Or is there an easier way to get there?
I'm preparing for a 6 month overland trip from Amsterdam to Cape Town by car. We plan on driving down the east coast, starting in Egypt, but my biggest problem is getting to Africa in the first place. Since the overland routes to Egypt are too dangerous and the ferry services from either Europe or Turkey to Egypt are suspended, I'm considering shipping the vehicle from Rotterdam to Alexandria. Not my preferred way of starting the journey but it seems the best option at this time.
I'm a Canadian going to Kenya with a friend, and we are flying via Egypt. We have a stopover in Cairo each way (about 16 hours for both). I have friends in the city and we'd like to go into town before our connecting flight, and I was told that we could get a transit visa to do that instead of paying the full price of a tourist visa. Has anyone done this recently (particularly if you're from Canada)? Are there certain conditions we should be aware of? Is it possible to get it in…
I am a girl from Hong Kong, will make my first visit to Cairo from 7th to 10th May.
As my friend is not free in the day time, I have to go around by my own.
Just wonder any companions I could make here? Or will you suggest me to take some one day tours?
I'm planning to visit Egypt (Giza, Aswan, Abu Simbel, Luxor, Alexandria, Cairo) from 18 Oct to 27 Oct, 2016. I'm a solo traveler who will travel alone.
Any suggestion regarding accommodation, precaution (several posts in the web who mentioned Egypt is a country full of taut)?
Anyone/group have plan to travel at similar period? Please let me know.
Hi all. I'm planning to go to Egypt in July (HOT!!). I know that the black market exchange rate for EGP is 20 - 30% better than the official exchange rate. Does anyone have advice on doing this?
1. I am flying into Hurghada. Where can I go there to change money? How do I find the people to change with?
2. Is it generally safe?
3. I know the basic rip offs (fake money, a wad of bills with the real ones on top, snatch and run). Any non-obvious scas to worry about?
I am Major Rahman. Presently working in United Nations Mission in Sudan. I am planning to travel to Egypt from 12 May 16 to 17 May 16. I had a plan to go to Cairo, Giza, Luxor and Hargada.
Anybody can accompany me. Just inbox me if you want.
Hi I´m planning a trip to Egypt(mostly Cairo and surroundings), I will be arriving in January 2017. How safe is it in terms of terrorism? I´ve read warning in other countries government agencies claiming that the Sinai region is highly risky, so I´m wondering if I should still go.
Please any comments are welcome
I'm a US citizen in Cairo. My tourist visa expires on the April 27th and I'm planning on going to Dahab from that date until May 18th (overstay of 21 days). Which of these options makes the most sense.
Overstay the visa and pay a fine. I try to follow the rules, so this option seems like a big deal. Is it? What's the fine?
Get a visa extension at Sharm el-Sheikh since I'm flying there and then taking a taxi to Dahab. I've read that I cannot get an extension at the airport, but…
