South of Cuenca, altitudes diminish enough that the temperatures, especially around Loja and Vilcabamba, remain comfortably warm year-round. It’s even a bit humid at times. The rainy season, when it can be cold and wet (but almost always with several hours of sunshine in the morning), is October to early May.
