For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

I have a kinda odd request: They sell some incredible hot sauce, but they won’t ship it to America. I brought some back with me and just finished it this week. I have been craving more, it is so good. If…

I'm headed to Uruguay next week (from Buenos Aires), arriving on Monday and leaving on Thursday. I have a hotel reservation in Montevideo for the three nights, but would love any input on how to make the most of a short stay in Uruguay. I'm not particularly interested in Colonia, but I figured that I might as well visit for a few hours since it's so nearby. I was planning to get the Buquebus to Colonia from Buenos Aires and then a bus onwards to Montevideo. Is that a decent plan or would it be…
