Getting there & away
Buses leave from the plaza approximately every hour during daylight hours; the last bus is at 6pm. The main destination is Tena ($1, one hour), where you can make connections to other places. Cooperativos Amazonas has a direct bus from Quito at 11:30am, returning from Misahuallí at 8:30am ($7, six hours).
Since the opening of the Tena–Coca road and the construction of roads east along Río Napo, river traffic has dwindled to the point that passenger canoes are no longer available. Canoe rentals cost $25 per hour (up to 12 passengers). Instead of arranging your trip with drivers on the beach, go to a nearby agency (if the boat has problems they will back you up). If you’re staying at a lodge on the Río Napo, transport will be arranged by the lodge.
