El Castillo Galapagos
Casa De Hospedaje Germania
Hotel Sol Y Mar
The recently renovated Sol y Mar bears little resemblance to its previous incarnation, save the sought-after waterfront location with pelicans and sea lions as neighbors.
Hotel Lirio Del Mar
For a budget recommendation, try Hotel Lirio del Mar. There’s nothing but the basics here, with unadorned concrete rooms and cold-water bathrooms. Fans are hard to come by, but many of the second-floor rooms catch breezes.
The Gardner has a covered rooftop patio with lounge chairs and hammocks.
The España has one ground-floor room with four beds ($10 per person) for the budget minded.
Across the street from Hotel Lirio del Mar, the Salinas can be hit or miss. Get one of the small, dark ground-floor rooms and you’ll be disappointed.
Hotel Palmeras, a large, institutional-looking complex, is worth considering for its second-floor outdoor pool area.
Angermeyer Waterfront Inn
Across the harbor, accessible by water taxi, is the Angermeyer Waterfront Inn, a sun-splashed complex with simple rooms and outstanding views from the garden patio.
While the rooms at the Ninfa aren't twice as nice as the Castro across the street, this hotel does boast a sunny courtyard and nice restaurant. Rooms here do have cable TV and little decorative touches.
Located down a quiet street winding away from the harbor, the Castro looks like a Mexican villa.
Casa De Lago
Nothing like others in the same price range, Casa de Lago is best for families looking to recreate a little sense of home in the islands.
Finch Bay Hotel
This hotel across the bay from Puerto Ayora is in a class by itself, in part because it’s the only one with the beach right out its front door.
Only a short walk from Avenida Charles Darwin, this friendly, family-run hotel nevertheless feels pleasantly secluded. Rooms are surrounded by a nicely landscaped garden, and there’s a pool and Jacuzzi on the premises.
El Peregrino B&B
This small place, with only four simple rooms, is popular because of its central location and warm, family-like atmosphere. Breakfast is included.
Grand Hotel Lobo De Mar
Noteworthy for its waterfront location and indoor pools, the rooms at the Grand Hotel Lobo de Mar are less than grand.
Red Mangrove Inn
This charmingly decorated inn at the northern end of Avenida Charles Darwin has the most character of any top-end hotel in Puerto Ayora. Each of the rooms are bright and sunny with white adobe walls and colorful, tiled bathrooms.
A Mexican-style villa with rooms surrounding an attractive inner courtyard with a pool and garden.
Estrella Del Mar
Though the rooms at this friendly, family-run hotel are basic and the furniture is old, those with windows and ocean views make up for the shortcomings; others are less expensive.
Hotel Sir Francis Drake
From the outside it doesn’t look like much, sandwiched between shops and with nothing more than a dark hallway marking its entrance. However, this friendly hotel, only a short walk up from the pier, is one of the best value in town.
Gran Hotel Fiesta
The quiet Fiesta is almost directly in front of the Laguna Las Ninfas, perfect for a quick dip. Rooms in this orange-and-yellow concrete building are well kept and have hot water. There’s a pool table and modern restaurant on the grounds.
