For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.
I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…
hi, we are about to leave salento tomorrow, we want to be at Cali to the African music festival at Aug 10, but we dont want to stay at the city itself for the next two weeks. does anyone know a nice village or smal town around cali we can stay at till the festival?
I am planning to do the W the first week of March and I am looking to buy a tent. The problem is I only have $150 to spend and I am afraid to buy a tent that will not hold up to the winds or rain of Patagonia and break mid-trip. Is getting a fair tent at this price a pipe dream or should I just rent one at Puerto Natales? If it is not, does anyone have any recommendations? Everything that is being recommended is like $300.
Hey just wanted to see if anyone knows of a good cheap car rental place in preferably in Iqiuque. I am travelling with a friend and we wanted to drive down from Iquique to Santiago. Does anyone know of linked websites, i have been trying to find online but seem to not be finding anything really. Would appreciate the good help.
Hey all, sorry if this has been asked before but I did try and search with no luck.
I am wanting to do a tour of South America. I am wanting to do it over about 3 weeks [ I know it's not super long but I get limited time off work !]
I'd like the tour to include Machu Picchu, Iguazu Falls, Salar de Uyuni [salt flats], Christ the Redeemer, Copacabana, Cusco, La Paz and I am really not sure at this stage where else. Happy for recommendations !
I am quite happy for it to be a tour with budget…
I'll have one day off during a work trip to Santiago in August and was thinking of doing a one-day ski trip, with a company that will provide transportation (I don't want to rent a car). Which ski areas are best, in terms of distance from Santiago (less car time is preferred) and good conditions? I'm an intermediate skier, so won't be skiing black diamonds. I mainly want to ski somewhere beautiful with great views.
I will be traveling from Bogota to Popayan. I would like to break up the trip into 2 or 3 segments. Can anyone recommend some interesting stopovers between the 2 cities. Thanks
My girlfriend and I are planning to take our bicycles with us to South America at the end of this year and get around by mixed of cycling and catching buses. We are not sure whether we will have problems getting our bicycles on buses and would welcome any advice.
