Lonely Planet review for Aladdin’s

This extremely popular souk-themed restaurant serves great falafel and shawarma sandwiches, as well as main courses. Giant hookahs attract the hipsters.

Social shawarma stop--with gigantic cheap beers.

    ninalinda recommends this,

The shawarma and gigantic Pilsener (Ecuatorianamente Refrescante) and Brahma beers at Aladdin's revived me after getting whooped by the some of the country's youngest international judo competitors at around 2800m above sea level. A bit of protein and carbs (and a drop or two of alcohol to relax) hits the spot for late night munchies or perhaps after coming back into Quito from a hike on one of the surrounding mountains. Aladdin's is also a great place just to go with a group of friends to chat. There are rarely tables available inside, but most of the tables outside are under an awning and heated by those giant space-heater things, so you can enjoy the night air and avoid cigarette smoke if that's not your thing. Overall, it has a young, social atmosphere and focuses on the basics: quick, satisfying food and cheap beer.
