Getting around

The No 1 bus, which is usually crowded, goes northwest from the central plaza along 9 de Octubre to Puerto Bolívar ($0.20, 15 minutes). It returns along Pichincha and goes southeast as far as the statue of El Bananero, almost 2km from the center. A taxi to Puerto Bolívar costs no more than $2.

At the airport, Localiza (293 5455) rents out cars. Hotel Oro Verde also arranges car rental.
