Guayaquil’s sleek and modern José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport is located on the east side of Avenida de las Américas, about 5km north of downtown. Anyone flying to the Galápagos Islands either leaves from here or stops here on their way from Quito. Free wi-fi access is available throughout. A desk with accommodations and transport information is immediately outside the arrivals hall.
There are many internal flights to all parts of the country. The most frequent flights are to Quito (one hour) with Avianca, LAN or Tame. One-way tickets start at $78. For the best views, sit on the right side when flying to Quito.
Tame also flies to Cuenca (from $92, 30 minutes) and Loja (from $72, 50 minutes) daily. There are usually flights to Tulcán, Latacunga and Esmeraldas as well.
