For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

I'll be travelling south America for three months in August and will be going onwards then to New Zealand. The problem is i can't specify an exact date as to when my travels will be over and when I'll be ready to fly to New Zealand. Is there any company that can offer a booking on a flexible ticket where I can book my flight on a week or two notice?

Hi All,

Will be traveling to Cartagena in two weeks; went to Colombia two years ago, and loved it.
We went to Santa Marta and Tayrona before returning to Cartagena.

Travel between cities in the north is difficult and time consuming. I'm looking for suggestions for some EASY and interesting places to go, possibility to spend a night or two outside of Cartagena not a problem…Not so interested in the Islands, tho my wife loves the beach….and has no desire to jump on a plane to Medellin or Bogota…

Arica -> San Pedro De Atacama to see the Hot springs, geysers, Atacama desert and the village of San Pedro
San Pedro -> Calama to see the El Elqui
Calama -> La…

!Hola! I am a solo female traveler looking to spend about two and a half weeks in Argentina at the beginning of march this year. I have been traveling Chile with friends and we are breaking part in santiago- I was thinking of getting a bus to Mendoza from Santiago as I am hoping the drive is nice and i have heard pretty good things about the journey, thinking of spending a few days in Mendoza and then getting a bus to Buenos Aires (as there is nothing really between, am I right?). I have plenty…

I am booked to got to the stem cell insitute in Panama City, Panama with my sister who has MS in April and I am a little concerned because I have a pardon from my criminal activities, this happened when I was 17 years old, over 20 years ago. If I was to do a criminal record search here in Canada it comes back negative. I will add that I had crossed the border into the United States of America prior to getting my Canadian Pardon and by doing so they accessed the RCMP file and was able to bring…

Hi,

I would like to go and see the sunrise at 3 Cruces 'near' Paucartambo in April (12-13).

I have 2 questions. 1. Is it worth going there in that time of the year? Or will it be very clouded?
2. Is it possible to get there? I have very little time so I don't want to spend more than 2 days (from and to Cusco). Is this possible? And can I do it by public transport? I read that a bus leaves from Cusco to Paucartambo every morning, but from there, how do i get to 3 Cruces?

Ok maybe, just one more…
