For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

Can anyone who has been in Iquitos and outlaying jungle area give me an honest appraisal of the heat during their visit? We are from the Pacific Northwest, WA State, USA and not used to hot weather. If you can share your experience, I'd appreciate it.

Hello we have 13 days from Tucuman will go via bus to Aimicha, Quilmes, Aimicha, Cafayate, Salta all by bus.
In Salta will rent a car and drive north to Pumemarca, Quebrada de Humahuaca, Tilcara, Juijuy, Salta and then would like to drive the south loop Salta-Cafayate-Molinos - Cachi - Chicoana - Salta.

We would have continued by bus after Tucuman , Tafi, Amicha, Cafayate to Molinos Cachi and Chicoana but there are no buses. A tour of the circle from Cafayate would probably be very…

We used Hernan Jermoza Gamarra as our private guide for our recent trip to Peru.  We spent 10 days with Hernan in the Sacred Valley, in and around Cuzco, Machu Picchu, and the remote village of Paucartambo during the annual fiesta there. Hernan was very professional, responsive, flexible, and offered valuable insights and assistance before & during our trip.  We shared with Hernan a list of places we were interested in visiting and agreed on a customized itinerary and the price for our private…

Hi everybody,

planning a quick trip from Rio, only 4-5 days total (travelling with a friend who is pressed with time) and I'm a bit unsure what to visit among these three locations. Discriminants are Time, Money and, of course, Worth-See.

In this sense, I think Pantanal (probably from Campo Grande?) is best in terms of sight-seeing (nature, fauna etc.), but definitively the more expensive (both flight and in there) and time-consuming (for the period I have in mind, mid-August, there are no…

Hi all, we're spending 4 days in Paracas in September. We'll be in Lima beforehand and we looked at taking the Cruz del sur bus to Ica (at 3:30am and arriving around 8ish). From here, I plnaned on visiting the wineries and pisco farms in the morning, and finishing off at the sand dunes for their afternoon/sunset session at 4pm. I know this is a lot to do, and might not be the smartest thing to hit the dunes after imbibing copius amounts of alcohol but we have lots planned in Paracas. My question…
