Earthquake in Ecuador

There was a large earthquake (7.8) tonight near Cojimies (between Mompiche and Pedernales). It was shallow and it was felt right through the country. It was 6.4 in Quito, but no major damage was reported other than some power outages. Guyaquil was hit hard, there's a lot of damage reported, at least one overpass collapsed and so far one death officially. Manta has suffered too, the airport is closed, the control tower collapsed, 10 deaths reported in the city. Portoviejo too, with 18 deaths…

Hi all,
I will soon be in La Paz and need to video conference. I read all kinds of posts suggesting internet is very slow everywhere. Does anybody know a good location (preferably not too noisy as well) with reliable internet that would allow me to video conference?

Alternatively I could try to get a 4G card but I'm not sure how reliable that would be?

Any advice or tips are appreciated! Thanks!

I need to take a bus from Puno, Peru to La Paz, Bolivia. Apparently, there are a lot of sketchy bus companies out there. I've been able to find some recommendations but they have for the most part been from years ago. Has anyone taken this route recently and have recommendations on reputable bus companies?

I am looking for a 5 day cruise in november. Due to time constraint I need to book in advance. The travel agency recommends Odyssey. Anyone with experience from this yacht?

Hello fellow travellers!
First time posting to something like this, and it's my first time really travelling and I'm so excited I could vomit (in fact I probably will before my plane leaves tomorrow!)
So, I'm writing in hopes of a few things, mainly I'd love some advice. I'm a solo female traveller going to Peru with my backpack and open mind. I was really hoping to get into the Jungle for a few days, and I've read a few different things about the various places one could do this. My plan was to…

I've been trying to buy MP tickets on the official government website,

http://www.machupicchu.gob.pe/

but it kept rejecting my Visa card.

I called my bank (Wells Fargo) and they said they do not allow transactions with this site because it has been determined to be "fraudulent". I said there must be some mistake, as this is an official government site.

Anyone else have a similar problem? Any fix, other than to buy the tickets at a higher price from an agent? I found this thread but it's…
