Hotel Dili offers pretty basic rooms but has good tropical fruit breakfasts and a waterfront location. The cheapest rooms are tiny and share bathrooms; all rooms have high-speed internet and satellite TV.
Rooms here are comfortable and clean, and by far the best in this price range. There’s a pleasant bar downstairs and the family who runs the place can cook up a Portuguese storm (meals US$7 to US$20).
Stick a bunch of portable rooms together, insert air conditioners and this is what you get. There’s nothing fancy about this place, especially the shared bathrooms, though the pool’s a welcome addition and there are good views from the upstairs gym.
About 3km from town, this mishmash of rooms – including an uma adat (traditional house) – is worth staying at for the unusual sculptures that pay tribute to Timor-Leste’s long-time supporters.
