Several massive thatched-roof huts make up the complex of the Aeropuerto Internacional Punta Cana, located on the road to Punta Cana about 9km east of the turnoff to Bávaro. The arrival process, including immigration, purchase of a tourist card (US$10), baggage claim and customs, moves briskly.
Several airlines have offices here, including Aeroflot, Air France, American Airlines, British Airways, Copa, Delta, Gol, Frontier, JetBlue, and United, but they are tucked away behind the scenes and hard to find. Other commercial airlines serving the Punta Cana airport include Airtran, US Airways, Air Canada, Avianca, KLM, Spirit and Westjet, among a wide-range of charter carriers.
For domestic air connections, Dominican Shuttles has direct domestic flights on five- and 19-seat planes between Punta Cana and Samaná's Aeropuerto Internacional Arroyo Barril (one way $159, 8am Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday).
There are Banco Popular ATMs located in the arrivals area in both terminals and an internet facility in Terminal A. Several car agencies have small booths near baggage claim, including Avis, Budget, Hertz and Sixt.
Resort minivans transport the majority of tourists to nearby resorts, but taxis are plentiful. Fares between the airport and area resorts and hotels range between US$30 and US$80 depending on the destination.
