Travel Warning: Riots in Ulaanbaatar
More than 300 people were injured and five killed in riots on the streets of Ulaanbaatar recently. The rioters burned cars, threw stones, and set fire to the headquarters of Mongolia's ruling party. Police fired tear gas to control the crowds and about 700 people were reportedly detained. Travellers should avoid all public demonstrations in the capital.
