Odense is 34km west of Nyborg, 44km northwest of Svendborg, 37km northeast of Faaborg and 50km east of the bridge to Jutland.

Land

Bus

Regional buses leave from Dannebrogsgade 6, at the rear of the train station. Fynbus (www.fynbus.dk) runs bus services from Odense to all major towns on Funen – see individual destinations for bus information.

Car & motorcycle

Odense is connected to Nyborg by Rte 160 and the E20, to Kerteminde by Rte 165, to Jutland by the E20, to Faaborg by Rte 43 and to Svendborg by Rte 9.

PS Bilundejning (66 14 00 00; Ruggårdsvej 1) A competitive local option (from 425kr per day) if you don’t need to drop the car in another town.

Train

There’s a ticket office (6.30am-8.15pm Mon-Fri, 8am-4.30pm Sat, 9am-8.15pm Sun) on the 2nd floor of the train station complex, and plenty of automatic machines.

Odense is accessible by the main railway line between Copenhagen (218kr, 1½ hours), Århus (190kr, 1¾ hours), Aalborg (291kr, three hours) and Esbjerg (172kr, two hours). Trains between Odense and Copenhagen stop at Nyborg (43kr, 20 minutes).

The only other train route in Funen is the hourly run between Odense and Svendborg (61kr, one hour).
