Lonely Planet review

True to its name, the Københavns Bymuseet in Vesterbro has displays about the history and development of Copenhagen - mainly paintings and scale models of the old city. There is also a small room dedicated to philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, who was born in Copenhagen in 1813 and died in the city in 1855.

One curiosity is the small exhibit dedicated to the religious philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, who was born in Copenhagen in 1813, maintained an often turbulent relationship with local authorities and died in a city hospital at the age of 42. The collection includes a handful of the philosopher's personal possessions and some unflattering caricatures exaggerating Kierkegaard's spinal deformity that appeared in the local media of the day.
