Lonely Planet review
Not exactly fancy but definitely comfortable and full of character, this friendly hotel has a top location, particularly if you're a theatre-goer. While it's a little worn around the edges, it more than makes up for it with excellent personal service.
Entering the lobby, you're greeted with warm, heavy wood and alcoves filled with plush seating. This heritage building has defied the chain or design once over and instead retained its antique charm. On each floor the elevator door is decorated with a fantastic shimmering peacock, and halls are peppered with black and white photos of famous Danish actors. Every room is individual in size and decor; furnishings are fairly standard but many have unique features like the gorgeous red-tiled bathroom in room 110. Others have floral French-style motifs on curtains and bedspreads and all are comfortable with enough colour to feel homey. Suites are a little tired and probably not worth the extra dosh.
