Hotel Christian IV
Lonely Planet review
With 42 simple, newly renovated rooms, Hotel Christian IV is a good mid-range option in an excellent neighbourhood, right next door to one of the city's best parks. A new owner has brought some bright ideas to the basic decor and staff remain as welcoming as ever.
This small, independent hotel is both comfortable and quiet. White walls are livened up with Danish prints and blue bedspreads have sun motifs. Bathrooms are big with full showers but no tubs. Deluxe rooms are quite a bit more spacious than standards. For a more peaceful night's sleep, ask for a room facing the green courtyard rather than the street. Room number nine is the 'bridal suite' and has an Arabic theme: a mountain of colourful cushions on the canopied bed and cinnamon potpourri on the table. (If all of the rooms were like this, the hotel would be incredible!) Breakfast is served in a sunny room with bright art on the walls and fresh pastries on the buffet table.
Our independent authors have visited Hotel Christian IV and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Copenhagen.
