Cocktail Bar entertainment in Copenhagen

  1. A

    Ruby

Behind an unmarked door lies one of Copenhagen’s coolest cocktail bars, where hipster-geek mixologists shake whimsically named drinks (an Importance of Being Earnest, anyone?) and a lively crowd spills into a labyrinth of cosy, decadent rooms. For a gentlemen’s club vibe, head downstairs (think Chesterfield lounges, oil paintings and wooden cabinets lined with spirits).

    Union Bar

Inspired by the speakeasy bars of old New York (even the cocktails are named after 1920s slang), the Union hides away behind an unmarked black door. To enter, ring the buzzer and head down the stairs to a suitably dim, decadent scene of handsome bartenders, in-the-know revellers and smooth jazz and blues tunes.

    Nimb Bar

If you fancy chandeliers, contemporary murals and an open fire with your libations, make sure this ballroom bar is on your list. Kick-started by legendary bartender Angus Winchester, Nimb’s cocktails are seasonal, classically styled and wittily named (we dare you to order the Pornstar Martini).

    1105

Head in before 11pm for a bar seat at this luxe cocktail lounge. Domain of legendary barman Gromit Eduardsen, its perfect libations include the No 4 (Tanqueray gin, cardamom seeds, pepper, lime and honey). Whisky connoisseurs will be equally enthralled.

    Salon 39

An off-the-radar gem, where chandeliers and gilded cornices meet brilliant cocktails (the Penicillin No 39 is dangerously good). Line the stomach with tasty grub including calamari with black-ink mayonnaise.

    K-Bar

This laid-back lounge–cocktail bar is tucked away behind Amagertorv. The ‘K’ stands for Kirsten, who mixes a mean mojito to a youngish, weekend-all-week and preclub crowd.
