If brisk water doesn't deter you, the greater Copenhagen area has several bathing areas. This beach has undergone a total transformation in recent years and is now a spectacular sheltered lagoon, with acres of sandy beach and, during summer, a festival atmosphere most days with cafés and bars. Playground facilities and shallow water make it ideal for children.
