   Prague’s attractive zoo is set in 60 hectares of wooded grounds on the banks of the Vltava. It makes for a great outing for kids. There are sizable collections of giraffes and gorillas, but pride of place goes to a herd of rare horses. Attractions include a miniature cable car and a big play area.

   Plzeň's zoo is one of the best in the country, with a sizeable collection of exotic animals, including rhinos, hippos and giraffes. There are also camel and donkey rides for the kids. You can buy a combined-entry ticket for both the Zoo and DinoPark next door (adult/concession 190/130Kč).
