Lonely Planet review

With spotless two- to six-person bedrooms in a superb courtyard location only 200 metres from Staromêstské námêstí, this hostel is a bargain if you want to be in the heart of things. Predictably, it books out quickly. There's a vegetarian restaurant downstairs.

If all you want is a cheap place to lay your weary head at night, you couldn't do much better than this sparkling little hostel. It's the most central budget accommodation in Prague, a couple of minutes' walk from Old Town Square and within sight of the soaring spires of historic Týn Church. The 14 rooms are basic and unadorned and all have shared bathrooms, but they're spotlessly clean and comfortable. Book well ahead as it fills up during busy times of year. The hostel is at the back of a courtyard off Týnska, so it's fairly secluded and avoids most of the noise you'd expect in this area. Also in this courtyard are some rather unexpected, but very welcome, facilities including a sauna, gym, Jacuzzi and massage salon. Breakfast isn't served at the hostel, but there are plenty of places to grab a bite nearby.

Our independent authors have visited Hostel Týn and selected this as one of our recommended hostels in Staré Město.
