La Casona
Hard to believe, but this is Pinar's best government-run restaurant outside Rumayor. Encouragingly there are tablecloths and wine glasses here, along with steak, chicken and pasta on the menu, but positioned unstrategically on the town's busiest nexus the hissing hustlers are never far away. Get a seat away from the door.

Restaurante las Brisas
This place serves deep-fried chicken and congrí (rice) for peanuts, otherwise pick up a lunchtime grilled-cheese sandwich at either the Patio del Decimista or the Centro Cultural Polo Montañez.

Rumayor
The best food in Pinar del Río is probably found here at Rumayor, located 2km north of the town center, off the Carretera a Viñales. Justly famous for its succulent pollo ahumado (smoked chicken), you'll pay a little extra here (around CUC$10), but it is definitely worth it. This is one of Pinar's premier cabaret spots in the evening.

Restaurante Criollo
Out near the hospital, this is an atmospheric restaurant with standard pork and chicken dishes in above-par surrounds. It abuts a vast patio which transforms into another top cabaret venue aftern the sun goes down.

La Casa del Veguero
Just outside Viñales toward Pinar del Río, this ranchón (rural restaurant) serves mediocre à la carte items (from CUC$5). It's a Viñales bus tour stop; there's a secadero (drying house) adjacent.
