Lonely Planet review for Restaurante Europa
Fine fin de siècle furnishings lure you into this former Havana sweet shop that recently got a restaurant makeover by the City’s Historian’s office and Habaguanex. They obviously forgot to makeover the chef. Despite a menu that boasts of prize-winning cuisine (what prize?), the plate doesn’t quite live up to the billing, though the ambience is pleasant and the service eager.

Don't miss this authentic ambience

My wife and are are seniors and like Latin music. We were here in April 2011. The musical group makes this restaurant a treat, although the food is average like everywhere in Havana. The upside is that the food is inexpensive and varied. Located on a corner of active Obispo St. in Old Havana, it features an older septet of musicians playing traditional, danceable Cuban rhythms with a trumpet, guitar and some unusual percussion instruments. The main singer is over 60 and he is great. The room itself is spacious, with a bar, and you feel right at home.
