Havana discovers the barbecue or, more to the point, the full-on charcoal grill. Huge portions of meat and fish are served up in this amiable villa-cum-paladar, so go easy on the starters which include crab mixed with eggplant, quail eggs and fried chickpeas. La Fontana specializes in just about everything you’ll never see elsewhere in Cuba, from lasagna to huge steaks. Big-shot reviews from the Cigar Aficionado and the Chicago Tribune testify the burgeoning legend.

    Excellent food, lovely romantic atmosphere, good service.

    It's not easy to find a decent place to dine in Havana. We were very happy when we discovered La Fontana. It is a very nice restaurant indeed, the food was excellent, and they created such romantic and cozy atmosphere, so that we returned there even though it was a 15 mins drive from our hotel...

    There are places that appear just to fill a space; others, to transcend… It seems to be the case before us today.
     
    La Fontana Restaurant was founded 14 years ago and the slogan that specializes it ...the best grill in Havana ... was not born of their owners, who wanted to describe it as such; on the contrary, it comes from the clients, locals and foreigners. But, is this all what the visitor will find? Today, La Fontana restaurant is one of the most prestigious Cuban paladares the world over. It is no a coincidence that in the digital magazine, www.tripadvisor.com, it is placed in the third place out of thirty restaurants in the city, described as 4.5 stars according to clients opinions and epithets such as "the best in Cuba ...�, "really good ...�, "the very best of Havana...", "a fascinating culinary experience..." or that one from a possible frequent guest, “...unique every single time." This is the valuation a good gourmet will find in such a pleasant place.
