    One of Trinidad's state-run restaurants. Crowded at lunchtime with tour groups, but quiet the rest of the time, this restaurant specializes in grilled meats. The café next door is a good place to sit down and write postcards and does the best grilled cheese sandwich in town. Local trovador (traditional singer-songwriter) Israel Moreno often drops by during the day with a song.

    Choose the dining room or pretty rear garden to take your meals in this paladar (privately owned restaurant) above the Plaza Mayor. Voluminous meals are served by friendly staff, such as the house specialty; Cordero (lamb) served shredded.

    One of Trinidad's state-run restaurants. Offers everything from spaghetti to lobster. Live trios often strum while you dine here and it's a tranquil spot for dinner.

    One of Trinidad's state-run restaurants. Here you'll dine on good portions of Cuban cuisine in the elegant 19th-century Casa Bidegaray. Meals are reasonable, even if the service isn't, with smoked pork topping. The store attached has a good selection of books.
