Lonely Planet review
Long Santa Clara's default hotel – and its tallest building – this minty-green 168-room eyesore played a key role in the December 1958 battle for the city between Guevara and Batista's government troops (you can still see the bullet holes on the building's facade). Inside, the pokey rooms and tired furnishings are worn, but there are cracking views from the 10th-floor restaurant.
Our independent authors have visited Hotel Santa Clara Libre and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Santa Clara.
