Lonely Planet review
The only tourist hotel is accommodated in Santa Clara's tallest building, a minty-green 168-room eyesore that played a key role in the December 1958 battle for the city between Guevara and Batista's government troops (you can still see the bullet holes on the building's facade). Inside, the poky rooms and tired furnishings appear worn, but there are cracking views from the 10th-floor restaurant.
