Dubrovnik in March

Hello all,

My husband and I are planning a late honeymoon for the first two weeks of March 2015 (February 28th through March 15th). We're thinking of spending five days in Dubrovnik (March 1st-5th), but after reading various blogs and researching day trip opportunities, we have a few questions/concerns.

First, part of the reason that we're interested in spending so much time in Dubrovnik are the day trip possibilities. Specifically, we're thinking Mljet, Ston, and Korcula. However, after…

Bled to Trieste, Piran and Rovinj

Hoping to move on from Bled to Trieste, Piran or Rovinj. Can I get transport from Bled or do I need to head back to Ljubljana? Also, will there be places to stay in those places on the Istrian Peninsula or does it shut down for the season? Hope to head to Zadar after the Istrian Peninsula and assume it isn't too much of a problem to do that. Is the transport daily or only a few days a week? Thanks much!

Croatia during winter

We have 16 days to go on vacation during the middle of February 2015. Six days will be spent in Prague. Has anybody experienced Croatia in the winter? What's open? I read that the ferries to the islands are closed. I'm so drawn to Croatia from the pictures and from what I've read but feel nervous about restaurants, castles, museums being closed. Any feedback would be so appreciated!

Joining the Schengen zone?

I have read that Croatia will be joining the Schengen zone in 2015. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best place to watch for updates on this?

Am I correct that Croatia will have to apply mid-2015 and that the EU will decide within 6 months? I am interested in knowing this because I am hoping to visit Croatia in September 2015.

Appreciate any help, thanks!

Island hopping

I would like to go from Split and visit Hvar, Vis and Korcula and then head to Dubrovnik from there. This will all happen in October. Is this possible or will I need to backtrack to Split? Also, what are people's feelings about Brac? I'm open to other island suggestions and probably have about a week or so to do some island hopping. I'm interested in hiking and beauty.
Thanks so much!

Plitvice National Park Tour from Zagreb

My husband & I are hoping to visit Plitvice Lakes on a one day tour from Zagreb but have only seen "private tours" for two costing around 180 Euros each which is way past our budget. Could anyone recommend a tour company that takes small groups so that the individual price would be more affordable? We are will be in Zagreb in mid October. Would appreciate any other suggestions as well.
Many thanks!
