Land

Car

ITR Rent a Car (337 544; Riva 20), near the intercity bus station, has rental cars from around 595KN per day with unlimited kilometres. On a weekly basis it’s 3560KN with unlimited kilometres. You can also try Budget (214 742; Hotel Bonavia, Dolac 4).

Train

Five trains run daily to Zagreb (86KN, five hours). There’s also daily a train to Split that changes at Ogulin where you wait for two hours (152KN, 10 hours). Several of the three daily services to Ljubljana (94KN, three hours) require a change of trains at the Slovenian border and again at Bifka or Bistrica in Slovenia, but there is also one direct train. Reservations are compulsory on some poslovni (executive) trains.

Boat

Jadroagent (211 276; Trg Ivana Koblera 2) has information on all boats to Croatia.

Jadrolinija (211 444; www.jadrolinija.hr; Riva 16) sells tickets for the large coastal ferries that run all year between Rijeka and Dubrovnik. Southbound ferries depart from Rijeka’s ferry wharf (Adamićev Wharf) at 6pm twice weekly in winter, four times weekly in June and late September, and at 8pm daily from July to early September.

Air

Croatia Airlines (330 207; www.croatiaairlines.hr; Jelačićev trg 5; 8am-4pm Mon-Fri, 9am-noon Sat) has an office in Rijeka and operates international and domestic flights.
