Lonely Planet review
The recently renovated Archaeological Museum spreads out over three floors. Its upper floor showcases prehistory, with Illyrian and Liburnian pottery and metalwork. The 2nd floor houses impressive Roman stelae from Asseria, a 2.5m-high marble statue of Augustus from the 1st century AD, and a model of the old Forum, among other Roman pieces. The ground floor is dedicated to the Middle Ages, and you can see some odd local tombstones.
