Okay I am traveling with a party of 6 adults. We would love to see a waterfall maybe a volcano and some wildlife for our camera enthusiast. Maybe a cool dip into a nice pool. I am looking for a recommendation for a personal guide who knows the area and wont cost us a fortune. At 6 adults even the cheapest trip will be in excess of $750.00. We want to have a fun day and not feel like were just cattle being herded about. We have our own van.
Surely some local would like to make a couple hundred…
Hi there helpful travellers,
I've decided to defer my acceptance to Columbia in NY for a year and take the opportunity to move to Costa Rica. I'm an Acroyoga teacher and currently work in international development here in Canada; I've travelled 54 countries so far in my life so have a bit of experience with getting settled in new places, meeting people, and so on.
That being said, I would really appreciate some advice - I'm looking to construct a list of probably 4-5 places on the pacific…
My SO and I were going to do a week trip in either Costa Rica, Panama, or Nicaragua in mid-August. I've been researching about what to do but all of the travel sights hype up every place so all of them look quite similar.
Cost is the most important thing to us, however safety (obviously) and access to excursions are also a really big deal, we aren't the type to sit in the hotel all day. Has anyone been to these three places, or has been to one that they recommend heavily? Also, which…
Good morning. I am an older traveler, age 63 wishing to visit Costa rica for 10 days this summer.I will be alone and am a seasoned traveler. Can anyone provide any suggestions as to where to go, how to split up the trip. I am interested in beautiful scenery as well as the cultural/history component of the country.
Thank you in advance.
We have had some great advice from here to date.
We are family of 4 (two kids aged 13 and 10) visiting mid July to end of August and seem to be picking up conflicting advice re: health:
1) Do we definitely need Hep A and Typhoid injections? Any other jabs recommended (we are not great vaccination fans and kids have only had basic triple vaccine you have to have plus tetanus. Not had MMR.
2) We are going to Caribe side but not off beaten track particularly. Do we need any kind of malarial…
Hey everyone! I'm thinking of going to Costa Rica in July, mainly to hit the coast and do some snorkeling. I was wondering just how rainy is the rainy season? I mean, if I'm gonna be stuck inside all day just watching the beach from my window I'll just reschedule... Thanks a lot!
I'm travelling with my family (kids 6 and 8 years old) to Costa Rica in June. To get there, we have to change flights in Panama City. Our local health service and the LP-guide recommend to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate, otherwise you risk that Costa Rica won't let you enter the country. Since we don't stay in Panama (only airport), we would like to avoid unnecessary vaccinations. So our questions are: Does Costa Rica really require the yellow fever vaccination certificate…
Turns out we have an extra day and night, our first in CR, before our rental is available in Punta Uva July 28. We get in to San Jose at 7:30am on July 27. We could stay in San Jose, I was just wondering if there were some place along the way to Punta Uva we should stop and stay the night? Or should we just get out to the Coast and find a place for the night there. We are already spending a week in La Fortuna after our week in Punta Uva. We will have a 4wd rental car.
