Land
Bus
Buses to San José and San Isidro stop on the east side of the Interamericana. Other buses leave from in front of Panadería Palenquito or Supermercado Térraba a block apart on the town’s main street. The bus ticket office is inside the Palenquito.
Ciudad Cortés (Transportes Térraba) Six buses depart from 6:30am to 6:30pm.
Dominical Depart 8am.
Neily (Transportes Térraba) Depart 5am, 6am, 7am, 9:30am, noon, 1pm, 2:20pm & 4:50pm
Puerto Jiménez Depart from in front of Banco Coopealianza at 8am, 11am & 5pm (these buses originate in San Isidro, so pick-up times are approximate).
San Isidro (Tracopa) US$3.50, three hours, depart 8:30am, 11:30am, 2:30pm and 4:30pm.
San José (Tracopa) US$6.50, five hours, 5:25am, 6:15am, 7:45am, 10am, 1pm, 3pm and 4:45pm.
Sierpe US$0.60, one hour, depart 4:30am, 7am, 9:30am, 11:30am, 2:30pm and 5:30pm.
Uvita US$1.25, 1½ hours, depart 12:30pm.
Air
Sansa has two daily flights to and from San José (one way/round trip US$72/144), while NatureAir has one (US$80/160). Taxis meet incoming flights and charge about US$3 to Palmar Norte and US$15 to Sierpe. Otherwise, the infrequent Palmar Norte–Sierpe bus goes through Palmar Sur – you can board it if there’s space available.
