Bus & tram

Bus

Most buses arrive at the new peach-colored terminal on the west side of town. All of these pass La Palma (23km away) for the eastern entry into Corcovado. Buy tickets to San José in advance.

Neily US$3, three hours, departs 5:30am and 2pm.

San Isidro US$4.25, four hours, 1pm.

San José, via San Isidro (Autotransportes Blanco Lobo) US$6.50, nine hours, 5am and 11am.

Air

To and from San José Sansa (735 5017) has three flights daily for US$78/156 one way/round trip and NatureAir (735 5062, 735 5722; at Osa Tropical) has four flights daily for US$87/174. Both offices are closed on Sunday.

Alfa Romeo Aero Taxi (735 5353) has charter flights. Five-seat aircraft fly to Sirena inside Corcovado (US$371), Carate (US$153), Golfito (US$153), Drake (US$350), Palmar Sur (US$350), San Vito (US$472), Quepos (US$633), San Isidro (US$552), Punta Banco (US$230), San José (US$935) and Limón (US$1450); book two days in advance.

Car & motorcycle

Car & taxi

Colectivo Transportation (837 3120, 832 8680; Soda Deya) runs a collective jeep-taxi service to Matapalo (US$3) and Carate (US$6) on the southern tip of the national park. Departures are from the Soda Deya at 6am and 1:30pm, returning at 8:30am and 4pm.

Otherwise, you can hire a 4WD taxi from Taxi 348 (849 5228; taxicorcovado@racsa.co.cr) or from the central taxi center (735 5481). Taxis usually charge US$60 for the ride to Carate, US$25 for the ride to Matapalo and US$100 for the overland trek to Drake.

It is also possible to rent a vehicle from Solid Rental Car (735 5777; per day US$75).

Boat

The passenger ferry (admission US$2) leaves at 6am for the 1½-hour run to Golfito, returning at 11:30am. At the time of research, a second ferry was also running, departing Puerto Jiménez at 6:15am and returning at 1:30pm. Taboga Aquatic Tours (735 5265) runs water taxis to Zancudo for US$35. Other journeys can be arranged.
