Lonely Planet review

In the hills, 2km north of town, the area's original ecolodge languished neglected until 2011 when a Minnesota family revived the place. Rooms are actually wood and stone cabins with stone showers, ceiling fans, and sliding doors opening to magnificent sea views. Concrete villas have flagstone accents, new built-in cabinetry, and loft bedrooms, and are fully equipped with inviting kitchens and satellite TV. Some of the lodge buildings are swathed in murals, and banisters are crusted in seashells giving it a kitschy feel. The delicious palapa- style restaurant is open from Thursday to Tuesday and has a circle bar and an Italian chef (mains US$9 to US$24). Good marks all around.
