Getting there & away

The beach lies about 35km southwest of Nicoya on a well-paved road.

Land

Bus

Empresas Alfaro has a bus to San José (US$5, five hours) that departs from the main road at 4:30am and 8:30am. There is an added departure at 3pm on Sunday.

Traroc buses to Nicoya (US$1, two hours) depart from the pulpería by the soccer field at 5:30am, 7am, 8:45am, 11:30am, 1:30pm and 4:30pm.

Air

The airport is between Playa Sámara and Playa Carrillo (actually closer to the latter), and serves both communities. Sometimes the airport is referred to as Carrillo. Sansa flies daily to and from San José (one way/round trip US$78/156). It has an office in Hotel Giada.
