Hi all...silly question...is the Mepe station still for Cahuita & beyond? I was just there in October & have been there countless times, just double checking that nothing has changed recently (know I can take the Limon bus, don't want to...know how to ask the taxi driver to deposit me there...not going to the border...etc. etc....) I get my info from PVSAT.com & looks current.

Thanks in advance. Safe travels.

Hello everyone,

I'm planning to visit Costa Rica in late August/early September. I'd like to visit the rainforests, beaches, do some treks go places with some nightlife and maybe some surfing.

I understand the weather is generally fairly wet at this time of year. I know that there are microclimates around the country that vary but I would prefer to have sunny weather most of the time I'm there.

Do people think that it's worth visiting then or is it too wet? Any other advice is of course…

Hi all - my family is coming to Costa Rica in September. We are coming from separate parts of the US (west coast and the south)so looking for semi easy travel for both. We will have all ages - a 2 year old up to a 75 year old. We are all active and enjoy adventures. But we are also looking for a home base beach type town in case we need to hunker down with the kid for a couple days. Ideally looking to rent a car - drive to our home base and then travel out from there for day trips, etc. Looking…

Hi All,

My Costa Rica trip is happening on Saturday but I've realised that there are still some niggling practical questions I need opinions and info on:

1 - Where can I get my laundry done out there? I remember it being very easy in South America but wasn't sure for Central. Am hoping most of the places we stay will have a service of some kind.
2 - What to wear on my feet. I wanted something quite light because of the heat but then there's also the mud to consider. I have a pair of approach…

First off, I need to thank the contributors to this branch. I did not post a question but lurked extensively and found an abundance of helpful questions and answers.

A note on the trip planning. Two families were involved, both with children, but with fairly different travel styles and interests. My family (myself and wife, plus two boys age 6 and 9) is very outdoors-oriented and comfortable with independent travel. My in-laws (parents plus 3 kids ages 2,7 and 11) have much less experience…

Hi all,

I will already be in CR when my brother arrives (he has not been to CR). I am picking him up from SJO noonish & we are heading into San Jose via taxi. I have exited SJO countless times but only in the dark the last 4 years. If I remember correctly, coming out the doors, the taxi stand is on the left & a throng of people are to the right behind the barricade. I'm thinking I should wait for him to left just past the taxi guys so he'll see me. I remember an open space over there along…

Hi
As an Australian, I need to get an electricity socket adapter to accept my tablet / camera charger in Costa Rica. Not sure which one to get.
What are Costa Rican sockets like?. I believe same as US but US has two prong (A) and 3 prong (B). and it confuses me a bit. Don't want to have a useless adapter if I get wrong one.

cheers, Mark

Hi - I just wanted to write a brief trip report of my time travelling around Costa Rica with young kids - particularly because everyone was so helpful on this thread when I was planning my trip and I wanted to pass it on. Firstly I can't thank Mr Moto enough for persuading us to make the effort to go to Tortuguero. It was incredible and a highlight of our trip. The kids were more than fine with the journey (especially the boat transfer which they loved!) We toasted our thanks to you with a…

We are traveling around Costa Rica in a rental car with 2 small children. We have 4 days to get from Manuel Antonio to Tamarindo in May. We would love suggestions on place(s) of interest between the two that could be seen in a few days. We will have already been to the Caribbean side and Arenal/Monteverde so other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

My GF and I are staying in the MA area next month and we are debating on staying a couple of nights in Dominical/Uvida area. We will most likely stay in a hotel, but we are trying to avoid renting a car if we don't have to . Will there be enough public transportation or Taxis to get us around to all major destinations (Marino Ballena, Nauyaca Waterfalls, Cano Island, ect)?

I would love to hear about any of your favorite things to do and places to eat in the MA/Dominical/Uvida…
