Deep sea fishing in CR

Hello!

I am travelling to Costa Rica with three friends in the beginning of november to mid november. We have heard that the deep sea fishing in CR is world class, and especially on the pacific side(Quepos, Los suenos). The places we have checked have been a bit pricy though, 500-1000$ per person. We only want to charter a boat for a offshore full day trip, and do not need the fancy package prices including expensive hotels and car rental. Does anyone have any good tips about where to go to…

Nicaragua, Panama, CR, Belize??

Hi there

I'm new to posting in the forum but have read many past threads. My husband and I (mid-late-twenties) are planning our first trip to central america mid December 13-23 (dates not flexible due to our jobs). We know this is not enough time to really explore all CA has to offer so are wanting to optimize our time in a couple areas with minimal traveling time between locations. Feeling overwhelmed and more confused as ever in pinning down a spot as everything looks so awesome.

We enjoy…

Recommend a multi-day hiking route in Costa Rica?

I'd like to go on a hiking holiday in Costa Rica with my family. Most of the information I found online was for 1 or 2 day-trips to a specific destination but I couldn't find a route that would take longer and resemble a real trekking experience. Can you recommend a route that would meet the following criteria:
- Has 5-7 days continuous walking.
- Goes through some of the higher mountains/volcanoes of the country.
- Can easily be combined with a few extra days on the beach
- Good for a…

Week and a half

Hi travellers

I'm flying into San Jose around December for a week and a half in CR before heading up to Nica.

I'm travelling solo but I was looking to get off the beaten track a little. Keeping in mind I'm travelling with a budget, what kind of places do you all think would be good to visit?

Thanks in advance!

Car Rental SJO Airport

Hello all, me again :) my impromptu business trip + vacation weekend is approaching (Saturday) and I'm tying loose ends. IF the weather is nice and I decide to go to Playa Hermosa / Jaco on Monday, I'm thinking of renting a car for just that day. I see that Alamo appears to have an office near.. perhaps even INSIDE (?) the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel, San Jose, which is not far from the SJO Airport. Is it true? Is this Alamo office actually the SJO Alamo location? Asking to figure out if I need to…

Proof of onward travel necessary? Advance booking of bus tickets?

Hi all!
I did a search about needing proof of onward travel when flying to Costa Rica. Some people have mentioned that it's sometimes asked for upon entry, but not always. However, some airlines also ask for proof before boarding.

I have some questions regarding this:
Can anybody report on whether this has been asked for recently when flying into San Jose? Either by immigration or by the airline?

Also, as I'm only passing through Costa Rica to get to Nicaragua, does anyone know how to purchase…
