Lonely Planet review

For backpackers seeking something a little unconventional, Tina's might do it for you. This complex of little rooms and cabins has paths leading through the garden to each room. While the upkeep is not as assiduous as it could be, the setting is pleasantly organic.

Located on a ridge lined with budget joints, these simple casitas aren't your usual hostel setup. The rustic rooms, although basic, feature handcarved furniture of Tina's own design and seem almost to have sprouted spontaneously around the garden area. You're probably best off opting for private bathrooms as they seem a bit better maintained than the shared facilities. However Tina's is more about character than comfort - bedding is on the thin side and the shared kitchenette outside doesn't include a fridge. It's a great deal for a funky place that affords some privacy, in a quiet part of Santa Elena.

For sure to be impressed by the unique Cloud Forest.
But you can also learn much about plants and animals on Day and Night Tours with professional naturalist Guides.

Fun? Yes!

Horseback riding on sane horses and playing with monkeys is another special...and...and....

++Tina has a tree -planting project to reforest the Pacific slope. This is very important, because the deforestation quit the habitat for a lot of species, especially the Bell Bird and the Quetzal.
