Hi
As an Australian, I need to get an electricity socket adapter to accept my tablet / camera charger in Costa Rica. Not sure which one to get.
What are Costa Rican sockets like?. I believe same as US but US has two prong (A) and 3 prong (B). and it confuses me a bit. Don't want to have a useless adapter if I get wrong one.

cheers, Mark

Hi - I just wanted to write a brief trip report of my time travelling around Costa Rica with young kids - particularly because everyone was so helpful on this thread when I was planning my trip and I wanted to pass it on. Firstly I can't thank Mr Moto enough for persuading us to make the effort to go to Tortuguero. It was incredible and a highlight of our trip. The kids were more than fine with the journey (especially the boat transfer which they loved!) We toasted our thanks to you with a…

We are traveling around Costa Rica in a rental car with 2 small children. We have 4 days to get from Manuel Antonio to Tamarindo in May. We would love suggestions on place(s) of interest between the two that could be seen in a few days. We will have already been to the Caribbean side and Arenal/Monteverde so other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

My GF and I are staying in the MA area next month and we are debating on staying a couple of nights in Dominical/Uvida area. We will most likely stay in a hotel, but we are trying to avoid renting a car if we don't have to . Will there be enough public transportation or Taxis to get us around to all major destinations (Marino Ballena, Nauyaca Waterfalls, Cano Island, ect)?

I would love to hear about any of your favorite things to do and places to eat in the MA/Dominical/Uvida…

Discovering is much more interesting than following the trodden paths. When I start the tour on bicycle in the morning, I have some ideas of where to get during the day, both nothing concrete, and generally no accomodation booked in advance (except for the first and last couple of days of my holiday). And typically, I travel into areas where hardly a tourist can be seen.
How difficult is it to find some accomodation there? Are there some typical location where to look for (e.g. in Thailand, take…

Safety

I've travelled a lot in Asia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, ... alone on bicycle. Sometimes, I am still on bike some 2 hours after sunset. In Asian countries, that may mean some increased chance of accidents (many cars have worse headlights than my bike), but crime: no. In some places, I felt safer than in Germany, and didn't even bother to lock the bike while hiking in parks or shopping in local markets (also local people have the engine of their cars running while they are shopping).
How does it…

Hi everyone
I am looking for help planning three months trip to Costa Rica, Colombia and Ecuador in January 18. I am travelling with my family og four with two kids age 8 and 13. The plan is going to Costa Rica, travel to Panama and take a sailboat to Colombia. I am wondering if anyone can help me comparing Colombia and Costa Rica. We want to go to jungle, spend time at beaches, snorkeling and wildlife and are more to nature than to cities. My concern is if the trip passing from Panama to…

I'm looking to spend three weeks in costa rica either later this year or early next. I require some advice from seasoned travellers.

I am looking to spend roughly (£) 5 grand (roughly 6 in dollars/euros) on the trip and have put together a vague itinerary. I want to do at least 6 nights on the Osa Peninsula, it looks magical and 5 nights elsewhere. Most likely Arenal, it will be mainly a nature trip, I'm not fussed about zip lining or hot springs. For the last part of the holiday a beach…

Hello helpful-worldly travelers,
I'm planning 2-3 week trip to Costa Rica in late December to mid January and I was hoping to get some advice as to where to go and what to see. I am planning on camping whenever possible and I am fine hiking and/or hitchhiking between places. Trying to come out with some sort of loose itinerary, but I am would love any words of wisdom as well. Thanks for reading and happy travels!
Lots of love, Ilsa

Taxi with kids

Hi!!
I have strange questions but if someone knows the answer it would help me plan my trip! We are a family of 5 (kids 4-6-8) and I was hoping not to rent a car, here are my questions:
- Would it be easy to find taxis that fit 5 passengers? (at the airport but also around the country)
- Can the kids travel without car seat in taxi?
- If we book a tour for a day do we need car seat for the kids (other than bus where I guess it's not mandatory).

We were considering renting a car but even then it's…
